Digital Designer

What’s the role?

Are you a passionate designer with an impressive knowledge of digital & social, ready to take your next step and work alongside one of Australia’s biggest brands? An “outside-the-box” thinker who can convey ideas in new ways that will wow clients and engage their customers through their digital platforms.

An exciting opportunity exists to join Medium Rare’s branded content and strategy team, Rare Creative, where you’ll develop and design digital content for some of Australia’s most iconic brands, including Qantas and Australia Post.

The Digital Designer will deliver best-in-class digital assets, from proposal stage through to completion, and will work across a diverse range of categories, including retail, travel, financial services, homes and lifestyle.

Working closely with each brand’s Art Director and Content Lead, the Digital Designer will continually innovate, staying up-to-date on industry trends and the latest digital and animation platforms to bring concepts to life.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design digital assets for a range of channels (including animated social assets, web banners, EDMs and video) for a broad range of clients.
  • Continually look for new and exciting ways to present content within digital environments across a range of categories. Remaining up-to-date with industry trends and digital innovations to ensure a fresh approach, you’ll have a keen enthusiasm for learning new programmes and technology. .
  • Design high-quality presentation assets and client-facing documents and bring big ideas to the table for responses to briefs and proactive proposals. You’ll find creative ways to present proposals and bring to life the data and insights that underpin our work. We’re looking for someone who can continue to evolve the way we engage and excite our clients in presentations – making ideas pop and statistics sing.
  • Work with Account Managers and Art Directors to ensure timely delivery of all work – from proposals and mock-up stage through to design, client review and delivery.
  • Ensure all files are supplied in the required formats and are filed and archived accordingly. Organisation skills and attention to detail are a must.
  • Have a keen eye for photography and travel, seeking out the right images and contacting vendors for imagery to compliment our online content.

Who are you?

  • At least 3 years experience at a design agency, brand or publisher. A background in graphics, illustrations and typography will be highly considered. Video editing and animation skills are a requirement of this role.
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Creative Suite programs, including but not limited to InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
  • You understand – or ideally have experience – managing client and audience needs, ensuring your work meets the brief and is on-brand but always engaging to the reader.
  • You nurture strong relationships with clients and colleagues and positively welcome feedback during the review process.
  • The ability to multi-task is essential. You’re an organised self-starter who can manage multiple concurrent timelines and ensure all projects are completed, often within tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of designing pitch documents in Google Slides or Powerpoint.
