- Permanent part-time role, 14-hours per week
As we prepare to open the reimagined Newcastle Art Gallery, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Curatorial and Registration Assistant to join our team in this newly created role, working 14-hours per week.
In this role, you will be part of the Gallery’s expanded Curatorial and Exhibitions Team, supporting the delivery of our ambitious artistic program. Working under the direction of the Curatorial Lead, you will assist with curatorial and collections programs, requiring strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
You will play a key supporting role in managing the Gallery’s nationally renowned collection, working both hands-on and in an office-based capacity. Your responsibilities will include cataloguing, condition checking, and ensuring the appropriate display of artworks, as well as maintaining collection management and digital asset systems. In addition, you will contribute to the delivery of our world-class exhibitions by assisting with freight and logistics, preparatory object research, and collection interpretation. In broadly supporting the Curatorial Team, this role collaborates closely with the Registration and Collections Officer and the Curatorial Officer (Collections).
We are looking for an organised individual with strong administrative skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience researching and writing about art. A broad knowledge of First Nations, Australian, and global art histories will be highly valued.

Remuneration: $26,778.50 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 11.5% Superannuation per annum for a 14-hour week
