Talent Development Project (TDP)

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

3-4 days a week, 2-3 year contract, flexible work arrangements

$110,000 – $130,000 package 

The Talent Development Project (TDP) is a not-for-profit incorporated association that fosters, inspires and delivers excellence in music and the performing arts across New South Wales public education and beyond.

The unique TDP program expands the creative talent of select young musicians across all genres; singers, songwriters and instrumentalists and develops in them the artistry, optimism and resilience required to pursue a professional career in the performing arts. By investing in their growth, TDP helps create successful musicians who are equipped for long-term, sustainable careers.

TDP’s fosters direct connections within the music and entertainment industry and is supported by a dedicated network of professionals who guide and mentor students thus providing a comprehensive industry ready program with application to the real world of the performing arts. Upon graduating from the TDP, young artists continue to be supported early in their careers by the TDP’s THRIVE Program.

Over three decades, the program has graduated hundreds of talented students who continue to pursue a successful and sustained career in the global music industry and connect with the program through the TDP alumni. Many are household names including; Human Nature, Sam Fischer, Angus and Julia Stone, David Le’aupepe (Gang of Youths), Morgan Evans, Brad Cox, Imogen Clark, Ashleigh Rubenach, The McClymonts, Nicholas Gentile, Diana Rouvas, Julie Lea Goodwin and Paulini.

The Role

The TDP Board is seeking a dynamic hands-on CEO to successfully lead the organisation. Reporting to the TDP Board Chair, the CEO will lead a small team of staff including the Artistic Director and manage a larger team of music industry professionals who consult to the program.

Key responsibilities include delivery of current programs in consultation with the Artistic Director and managing key partner and stakeholder relationships including the NSW Department of Education.

Importantly, over the next two years the CEO will be responsible for delivering against the TDP strategic plan and growing and diversifying the TDP funding base.

The role is currently 3-4 days per week, based in Sydney and includes a flexible working arrangement.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of leading arts-based organisations to achieve short-term goals and a long-term vision. A capacity to build and nurture relationships with diverse stakeholders including government, philanthropists and corporate sponsors is essential. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a passion for the arts, a deep commitment to community engagement, and a leadership style and capability that inspires and motivates staff and key stakeholders.

You will possess strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills and experience with corporate governance.
