Building Designer / Draftsman

Our client, a local company specialising in design and drafting services for Commercial, Industrial and Residential buildings, is recruiting a talented Building Designer / Draftsman to join their team in Darwin and work on the delivery of various projects in the Northern Territory.

Your new role

You will be responsible for developing concept designs, working drawings and technical documentation, as well as assisting the team in the project management of various building projects. The projects will include new Commercial and Industrial developments as well as Residential new build and extension projects. This is a full-time permanent role based in Darwin.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

• Liaise with clients to determine design requirements and gather all relevant data for design layouts.
• Provide clients with suitable design recommendations based on budget, building site, and recent trends.
• Develop new concept designs, working drawings and technical documentation for building projects.
• Rework and modify designs based on management and client feedback.
• Provide estimates on cost, time, machinery, construction, and other specifications.
• Liaise with project stakeholders including Engineering Consultants and Building Certifiers to ensure all designs are produced in accordance with relevant industry legislation and standards.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will need:

• Previous experience in a Building Designer or Draftsman role on building construction projects.
• Hold a Diploma in Building Design or other relevant qualifications.
• Solid skills and knowledge in Revit are essential.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
