Position Overview
HOTA is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join the Culinary team!
As the Assistant Restaurant Manager at HOTA, you’ll play a crucial role in the must-visit destination for relaxed fine dining on the Gold Coast. You’ll work closely with the Restaurant Manager and the wider Culinary teams to lead a vibrant, energetic, and ambitious team, ensuring that every guest enjoys an exceptional experience.
Working in collaboration with your team and art curators, you’ll help create a seamless visitor experience that connects the exhibitions on display with the art of cuisine. You will help craft unforgettable dining experiences that bring the artistry of food and visual culture together in perfect harmony.
HOTA is a bold and ambitious arts precinct, and in this role, you’ll need to bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a drive to exceed expectations. You’ll be an integral part of the food and beverage operations, ensuring the highest level of performance and quality in service and menu design.
Position Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Restaurant Manager , you will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Financial Accountability: Assist in targeting key areas for improvement and growth to help drive profitability.
- Sales & Customer Experience: Support the team in delivering exceptional service and quality products to enhance the customer experience and drive sales.
- Team Management: Assist in managing the team by delegating tasks, supervising, and fostering a positive, productive work environment.
- Communication Skills: Work effectively as part of the team, communicating expectations and goals clearly to achieve the best results.
- Problem Solving: Provide solutions to any operational challenges that arise, always prioritising the customers best interests.
- Organisational Skills: Show excellent organisational abilities by balancing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Stock Control: Assist with liaising with suppliers, managing stock, and controlling costs by adhering to best practices and strategic decision-making.
- Flexible Work Hours: Be flexible with working hours, including weekends, public holidays, and rotational shifts.
- Customer Service Excellence: Provide exceptional, proactive, and personable service to guests at various locations throughout the HOTA precinct.
- Promote HOTA Programs: Support the promotion of HOTA membership, upcoming gallery programs, tours, and other events within the precinct.
- Customer Complaint Resolution: Assist in managing and resolving customer complaints in a timely manner or escalate when necessary.
As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you’ll be a driving force behind the smooth operation of HOTA’s food and beverage service. You’ll support the team in creating unforgettable experiences and play a key role in shaping HOTA’s reputation as a vibrant arts precinct with exceptional dining.
Qualifications for Assistant Restaurant Manager at HOTA:
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar management role within a high-end restaurant or hospitality environment, preferably with experience in fine dining or arts precincts.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team in a fast-paced setting.
- Customer Service Expertise: Exceptional customer service skills, with a proactive and personable approach to handling guest interactions and resolving issues.
- Financial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets, controlling costs, and driving profitability through strategic decision-making.
- Menu Planning: Planning menus in consultation with Chefs.
- Food Safety regulations: Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance.
- Training: Supporting the Restaurant Manager in selecting, training and supervising waiting and kitchen team members.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and foster positive relationships with both team members and guests.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and find solutions that prioritize the restaurant’s, customer’s, and staff’s best interests.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and overseeing various projects simultaneously.
- Culinary Knowledge : A solid understanding of menu development, food trends, and the culinary arts.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in Hospitality or Management: A formal qualification in hospitality management, business, or a related field is an advantage.
- Experience with High-Volume Operations: Experience managing front-of-house operations in busy, high-volume restaurants or venues is desirable.
