Arts and Cultural Development Officer

Position Objective
The main objective of this role is to drive implementation of City of Darwin’s Public Art program and associated Creative Strategy 2024 – 2030 and projects and support the Arts and Cultural Development Advisory Committee (ACDAC). The role is expected to be responsive to community and Council enquiries and requests regarding arts and cultural development. The role internally project manages public art outcomes across the organisation. The role apprises Council on local and national creative industry matters, initiates and implements policy, and is responsible for project management on a range of arts and community development activities, including Council’s Public Art program. * Note: As this position is covered by a job share arrangement, the role and the individual contributions will vary throughout the year depending on the needs of the business and the allocation of responsibilities across the job share incumbents.
Service Delivery
• Provide expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of arts and cultural policy, programming and strategy as relevant to the portfolio of responsibility.• Deliver on actions outlined in City of Darwin’s Creative Strategy 2024 – 2030.• Work collaboratively with government and non-government agencies, creative industries sector, community groups, individuals and Council departments in the initiation and implementation of arts and cultural development endeavours.• Oversee the project management of public art and community arts initiatives in accordance with allocated responsibilities.• Respond to community and Council requests and enquiries regarding arts and cultural development in a professional and timely manner.• Support the Council’s Arts and Cultural Development Advisory Committee (ACDAC) as required.• Represent Council on relevant external committees in accordance work allocation.• Jointly manage and implement Council’s Public Art Program, including budgeting, monitoringand evaluation, public acquisitions and maintenance.• Prepare council and committee reports, discussion papers, contract and project briefs, socialmedia and promotional copy as required and relevant to portfolio of responsibility.• Provide strategic advice across the whole of City of Darwin on issues relating to arts andcultural.
Position Prerequisites
• Bachelor’s degree qualification in arts, creative industries or relevant discipline; or• Minimum four years’ experience in a similar role• National police records check• Working with Children’s Clearance
