About Us
Papunya Tjupi Arts is a 100% Aboriginal owned and directed community arts organisation based in Papunya, the birthplace of the Western Desert dot-painting movement. The artists of Papunya Tjupi have established their own unique identity based on the legacy of their forefathers. The Art Centre, located 250km NW of Alice Springs/Mparntwe, supports emerging artists and some of Australia’s leading contemporary painters.
Central to Papunya Tjupi is the understanding that painting is an important part of culture and connection to country and that the teaching and passing of knowledge is what keeps the community’s future strong. Papunya Tjupi Artists exhibit fine art paintings nationally and internationally and feature in major public and private collections.
Art Centre ManagerReports to: Papunya Tjupi Board of Directors
As Art Centre Manager, you will:
- Maintain best practice administrative procedures required in the day-to-day operation of the Art Centre.
- Prepare funding submissions and acquittals and reports to funding bodies
- Financial management, with bookkeepers and auditors reporting to the Art Centre Directors
- Ensure WHS in relation to equiment, vehicles buildings and facilities
- Manage staff
- Mentor and encourage Aboriginal employment
- Market and promote the Art Centre
- Administer artists’ ICIP including license agreements
- Adhere to the Organisations business and strategic plan in accordance with applicable funding requirements and guidelines
- Recognise and respect exisiting tradtiional law andleadership frameworks as they impact on the governance of the Art Centre
- Maintain a cooperative, flexible and harmonious relationship with artists, the community , its Council and other external stakeholders.
Salary Range is $90,000 – $100,000 (dependent on experience) + 11.5% superannuation and capped Salary Sacrifice of $15,899.90 per FBT year. + additional employee benefits.
Start date is negotiable.
