Architect (Interiors)
- Full time fixed term role until end of Jan 2026
- Support the University’s large capital program of works
- Base Salary range of $121,508 – $137,032 + 17% Superannuation
About the opportunity The Architect (Interiors) assists and support the Deputy Director, DEPS (Design, Engineering, Planning and Sustainability) and Project Managers in the provision of architectural and interior design services including the review of project requirements, in-house design capabilities and project management for a large capital works program.
The role is responsible for brief development, concept design, design development, the implementation of design standards, and design management for mainly interior fit out jobs across the education portfolio, including workplace, teaching spaces, and laboratory spaces.
The Architect (Interiors) will also support various committees and works across Operations and the wider University portfolio. They will be actively involved with numerous projects under programs that aim to improve student services and campus life by building or rejuvenating the University’s prized assets.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- collaborating with internal and external teams / stakeholders to develop and implement planning strategies and architectural projects through Concept, Design Development, through to project completion and post completion evaluation
- assist in space planning and space management including implementation of space planning solutions
- identifying and preparing decanting strategies associated with space management solution
- contribute to interior design strategies and projects through the early planning and design phases in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the strategy project meets University objectives
- provide design assistance to portfolio holders for the roll out of strategic projects including teaching & learning, research facilities, student accommodation and experience
- provide input into the UI and Planning, Engineering, Planning and Sustainability Division strategy
About you
- post graduate qualifications in the field of Architecture, Interior Design
- demonstrated skills in Architecture and Interior Design documentation using AutoCAD/REVIT
- Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements in the building industry
- Proven analytical, organisation and conceptual skills, including ability to analyse and interpret information from different sources
- High level of client and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in the presentation of feasibility analysis, master planning, high quality briefings, reports and correspondence.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
