The Shuffle Club featuring Nina Ferro most easily described as a hot blend of jazz, swing, blues and boogie. But that hardly does justice to the band’s raw energy and enthusiasm – the kind that will bring you to your feet and onto the dance floor before you even quite know what is happening!
“I don’t think it’s overstating the case here – unsurpassable perfection!!” — Sebastian Scotney, London Jazz News on Nina Ferro
Uniquely for a jazz outfit, all four band members take the microphone and sing while playing their instruments with aplomb. The Shuffle Club is made up of hot sax, bass, drums and piano, screaming through damn tight arrangements. Working together since 1999, they have toured internationally across Europe, Asia and Central America, as well as performing regularly in venues and festivals all over Australia.
Featuring Nina Ferro on vocals. Melbourne-based Nina Ferro is a multi award-winning soul singer, songwriter, session and recording artist with a powerful, evocative voice, impressive vocal range and captivating stage presence.
An Australian and British citizen of Italian parentage, Nina has built an international following of fans. Tony Bennet called her ‘a fabulous performer with a knockout voice’. Nina has performed alongside artists such as Tony Bennett, Hugh Jackman, Jose Feliciano, Renee Geyer, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Vanessa Amorosi, Jon Stevens, Guy Sebastian, Kate Ceberano, John Farnham, Billy Ocean, Ricky Martin, Chris Botti, Dave Sanborn, Frank McComb, Chick Corea, The Zac Brown Band, The Cat Empire, and The Commitments. Nina has opened as the special guest artist for Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Juanes and Grammy Award-winning industry legends Gregory Porter, Charles Aznavour, and Neil Sedaka. In London, she is a firm favourite of iconic jazz club Ronnie Scott’s. With 8 solo albums to her credit, guest appearances on ARIA-award winning albums and a performance history longer than one’s own arm including Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena and regular appearances on Australian television (Dancing with the Stars and The Masked Singer), it’s no wonder Nina is one of the most sought-after vocalists on the international and Australian circuits.
The Shuffle Club is:
Ashley Gaudion – Saxophone/Vocals
Paul Griska – Double Bass/Vocals
Rodney Gilbert – Drums/Vocals
Dannie Bourne – Piano/Vocals
