Join Writers Victoria for an evening of reconnection and reflection.

Hear from author and multi-award-winning investigative journalist Louise Milligan as she shares her insights into the world of Australian literature. Louise’s book Witness was People’s Choice winner in the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and her debut novel, Pheasant Nest, was published in March.

Your host for the evening is poet and Writers Victoria patron Andy Jackson. You’ll hear short readings from writers Gurmeet Kaur and Beau Windon, and have the opportunity to mingle after the formalities finish at 7.30pm.

The State of the (Writing) Nation is also Writers Victoria’s major annual fundraising event.

Tickets are $20 with an optional donation. Proceeds from ticket sales ensure that writing remains accessible and inclusive to all members of the community.

Your donation will go towards:

  • Professional Development: Providing free or subsidised workshops, mentorships and manuscript assessments, particularly for writers facing financial or social barriers.
  • Regional: Offering programs that reach regional communities.
  • Writeability Program: Supporting d/Deaf and disabled writers through tailored resources, events and writing groups.
