Inspire your curiosity through unexpected artworks in an extraordinary setting. In an exhibition that asserts the rights and voices of women, Su san Cohn and Eugenia Raskopoulos unravel the body and challenge gender constructs, advocating for the freedom of bodily expression.
Curated by the Museum’s Director, Dr Victoria Lynn, this exhibition includes new and existing works by Melbourne-based craft artist Su san Cohn and Sydney-based visual artist Eugenia Raskopoulos. Throughout their 40-year careers, their art has called out the ways in which women’s bodies are represented, and they have provided alternative points of view through their respective explorations of adornment and language. The human body wears lived experience both on its skin, and within. It expresses the cultural, sexual, racial and diverse geographic histories of individuals. Bodies are at risk, but they are also a force for transformation. This exhibition of two leading contemporary artists explores how the human body expresses social experience and cultural difference.
