Fresh from Queensland Theatre’s smash hit production of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, the next event in the R|Talks series hosts newly appointed Artistic Director Daniel Evans and international creative producer, Amie Moffat.

Facilitated by Lecturer in Theatre and Performance at UniSC, Dr Hannah Banks, this panel discussion will offer a peek behind the curtain and into the processes, responsibilities and teamwork involved in bringing our most beloved stories to life on stage for contemporary audiences.

Stage adaptations are definitely having a ‘moment’ in the spotlight as the familiar is re shaped for contemporary context and forms. Daniel Evans, Co-Director of Pride and Prejudice (Queensland Theatre) and adaptor of GRIMM (Shake & Stir) will share his insights on the popularity of adaptations and how one pushes creative and political boundaries whilst remaining true to original texts written centuries ago.

Amie Moffat is a local creative producer whose work with Red Leap Theatre included the acclaimed Owls Do Cry, a 1957 work by Janet Frame, hailed as New Zealand’s first great novel. Adapting a text-based work into a multi-disciplinary performance, the production toured NZ to great acclaim.

A conversation not to be missed – book early to avoid disappointment.
