ARIA winning composer and pianist Paul Grabowsky AO launches the 2025 Live at The Count’s Season with a new ensemble, The Concierto Project.
This new musical outing is built around a recreation of the classic Jim Hall CTI 1975 album of Concierto, which includes wonderful arrangements of themes from the Rodrigo Concierto de Aranjuez, also immortalized by Miles Davis and Chick Corea. Grabowsky has also composed new music to frame these pieces, as well as new arrangements of various works from across forty years of his recorded legacy. His new sextet showcases the best and brightest of the Melbourne jazz scene, and opens the Count’s season for 2025.
Together with a six-piece jazz ensemble, immerse yourself in the rich and intricate sounds of Grabowsky’s compositions, brought to life by some of the finest musicians in the jazz world. This is a rare opportunity to experience a fusion of iconic melodies and innovative arrangements.
Grabowsky is one of Australia’s most significant composers and celebrated recording artists. An internationally acclaimed performer, he has worked with jazz greats such as Art Farmer, Branford Marsalis, Joe Lavano, and Johnny Griffin. He has performed on many great stages worldwide including the Sydney Opera House, Australia; North Sea Jazz Festival, Netherlands; Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland; Pompeii Amphitheatre, Italy; and Tokyo Jazz Festival, Japan. A household name in Australia, he led the house band on the Seven Network TV show Tonight Live with Steve Vizard, five nights a week in the early 90s.
An Officer of the Order of Australia for services to Australian Music, he is also a recipient of the prestigious Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award, the Melbourne Prize for Music and a Bell Hall of Fame Award.
