Monash Performing Arts Centres (MPAC) continues its 2025 program with the Victorian premiere of Night Night, a new theatre production by The Last Great Hunt, which uses live camera, digital trickery and puppetry to journey through life, death and other dimensions.
Taking to the Alexander Theatre stage, the story follows an Antarctic scientist who teams up with a mysterious glowing spirit as they embark on a quest to uncover the origin of life and save their souls.
The Last Great Hunt’s acclaimed productions include Lé Nør [the rain] – a hit when MPAC presented it in 2023 – Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer, and New Owner, have won multiple national and international awards. Created by The Last Great Hunt’s Arielle Gray and Tim Watts, alongside co-director Luke Kerridge, with esteemed composer Rachel Claudio, this new work is a visually captivating and cinematically playful experience.
On 23 and 24 May, Night Night offers an engrossing narrative that explores the delicate threads between life, death, and the universe, drawing inspiration from the wondrous and terrifying phenomena that exist both within and beyond our reality.
