As self-taught artists practicing in painting, sculpture and video, Stephen Brameld and Jay Staples simultaneously work on the same artwork until they reach a point of mutual recognition.
Their work explores improvisation, shared consciousness, regeneration and mysticism through a rugged workshop-like approach to painting and sculpting, using a wide array of materials. Their collaborative input works to destabilise falling into tendency or idiosyncrasy. Because of this, linear productions of work are not tenable. Rather visual themes emerge overtime; dissonant narratives gradually come into focus and expand through collections of work.
Their unique artistic collaboration will be showing from April 3 – 26 2025 at Art Leven.
