Explore the industrial history of St. George while creating unique collages in this hands-on workshop.
Get creative and dive into the rich industrial history of the St. George region in this community-focused collage workshop inspired by the current main gallery exhibition: Makers & Manufacturers. Using historical materials from Hurstville Museum & Gallery’s collection and vintage materials sourced by the Sydney Collage Society, we will explore how industries like shipbuilding, farming, and manufacturing shaped the area’s development.
In this 2.5 hour session, participants will learn collage fundamentals – covering techniques such as colour, balance, texture, and image placement – while creating a unique work of art inspired by historical themes, with guidance from Kubi Vasak, an experienced collage artist from Sydney Collage Society. You will have access to a wide variety of materials, including over 200 books and vintage magazines, to bring your vision to life.
Whether you are a beginner or have experience, this workshop offers a welcoming space to connect, learn, and create. At the end, we will host a gallery-style showcase to celebrate everyone’s creations. All materials are provided, and no prior experience is required.
Don’t miss this chance to combine history with art and walk away with your own masterpiece!
