Geelong Gallery and Australian Design Centre present this major new award celebrating innovation in contemporary craft and design.
A total of 187 entries were received across the fields of ceramics, glass, furniture, metal, jewellery, textiles and fibre. Applicants were encouraged to submit a work that demonstrated innovation in technique or material use and is an extension of their usual practice. The MAKE Award showcases ceramics, glass, furniture/woodwork, metalwork, textiles and fibre, and contemporary jewellery.
The 30 finalists are designer/makers with a high level of skill either working with materials that are new to their practice, new or traditional materials, or working in new and innovative ways.
The winner of the 2023 MAKE Award is Vipoo Srivilasa, receiving a cash prize of $35,000. Awarded Second Prize was Jessica Murtagh, receiving $10,000, with a high commendation to Liz Williamson.
