French jazz & swing virtuosos La Mauvaise Réputation are Australia’s most authentic interpreters of the wild rhythms and passion of 1930s Parisian hot jazz and the beautiful melodies of classic French chanson – sung en français bien sûr. The band will be joined by esteemed chanteuse Raleigh Williams as special guest vocalist.
Join us for an evening of exploration of the rich tradition of 20th century French popular music. The repertoire spans the sounds of the 1930s Parisian dancehalls, to the iconic anthems of Piaf, Montand and Trenet, to the 1960s provocations of enfant terrible Serge Gainsbourg and beyond.
Featuring Paul Gillett (vocals, rhythm guitar), Salvatore Greco (accordion), Enzo Ruberto (double bass) and Adam Russo on lead guitar, 2023 saw the release of their acclaimed album Live at OzManouche. La Mauvaise Réputation have performed at festivals, jazz clubs and high-profile events across Australia including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Brisbane Festival, OzManouche and the Museum & Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
Make a meal of it! The music gets underway at 7.30pm, but arrive a bit earlier if you can. From 6.30pm, enjoy pre-show dinner and drinks at The Count’s Italian-style kitchen and bar.
