Join co-curators Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed and Sarah Werkmeister as they discuss the ideas behind the exhibition, Jaren | جڑیں | Roots | جذور.
Jaren | جڑیں | Roots | جذور is a collaborative exhibition presented across three venues in Darebin: the Islamic Museum of Australia, La Trobe University and Bundoora Homestead Art Centre. This exhibition draws upon each organisations’ respective art collections, artworks have been chosen that reflect the diverse communities of artists that call or have called Australia home, specifically focusing on artists who express cultural heritage and practices from Central Asia, South Asia, West Asia, North Africa and Eastern Europe.
A new collaboration between these organisations, this exhibition has created a springboard for future projects together and beyond. The curators will discuss the exhibition as a whole and the artworks on show throughout.
