Mark Chew is one of Australia’s pre-eminent documentary and editorial photographers. His work centres around documenting the work of aid agencies, not-for-profits and charities in East Africa, Southeast Asia and the Pacific.
This new exhibition, F**K LOSS KISS is a presentation of photographs taken over a five-year period in the Urban Slums and Refugee Camps of East Africa. The exhibition records the lives of mostly women and children in an attempt to reveal the complexity and diversity of an existence in difficult circumstances.
The exhibition will open on April 1st by Abeny Mayol speaking about her experience as a South Sudanese refugee; and Bren Arkinstall, CEO of the Edmund Rice Foundation talking about his work in Urban Slums.
There will be a free and public Q&A event on Saturday April 5th 2-3.30pm, where the photographer Mark Chew will talk in detail about his work, in conversation with Lisa Button, CEO, Community Refugee Australia.
The exhibition will be supported with the screening of a film titled Living Room, by filmmaking team, Alecia and Archie.
