Destined for Landfill – Covid Couture

During the Covid lockdowns, Leah Doeland was unable to source her regular art supplies so she used household waste to make this collection of jackets. Each jacket was created using the same pattern with different ‘textile’ materials and handcrafted with a variety of techniques including patchwork, embroidery, sashiko, crochet, hand sewing and machine sewing. This is a special collaboration between ADC and Regional Arts NSW to bring the work of regional designer makers to a Sydney audience. About Leah Doeland Leah Doeland is a self-taught artist from Port Macquarie known for her vibrant, multi-faceted creations. With a keen passion for colour, texture, and light-hearted humour, Leah explores unconventional mediums to craft thought-provoking art. Her compositions invite viewers to see the world through fresh eyes, with captivating objects that spark curiosity.
