Bankstown Arts Centre is proud to present the 3rd iteration of Bankstown Biennale: Same Same/Different. It features the latest works from 17 prominent First Nations artists and artists from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds reaching for common ground, led by curatorium Coby Edgar, Jason Wing and Rachael Kiang.

Featuring:

Karla Dickens, Jamie Eastwood, Maddison Gibbs, Edwina Green, Morgan Hogg, Gillian Kayrooz, Wona Bae and Charlie Lawler, Gary Lee, Ruth Ju-Shih Li, Jazz Money, Claudia Nicholson, Joan Ross, Salllvage, Kien Situ,  James Tylor, Dung-Chuan Wen, Jason Wing.

Join us in January where Bankstown Arts Centre becomes activated as a partner site for Sydney Festival.

Art Up Late:  The arts centre will be lit up on 4 special evenings, sharing intimate readings, music, performances and an artist market

Thu 9 Jan – Tour with local artist Glenn Locklee

Thu 16 Jan – Stories to Call down the light: readings and panel discussions led by Common Ground and Debris Magazine writers and artists

Sat 18 Jan – Lunar New Year Artist markets featuring workshops and panel discussions with biennale artists

Thu 23 Jan – Deep Time Cabaret: an evening of music, beats and performance works traversing the tectonics of Country through to hyperfutures

 

Art Up Close: Encounter Biennale artists through a series of workshops

Sat 11 Jan – Raffia Cook Islands Costume Making with Morgan Hogg and Benny Akuila

Sun 19 Jan – Flora Ephemera, a collaborative clay workshop to share stories through clay with Ruth Ju-Shih Li

Sun 19 Jan – From the Palm Of, a roundtable on food as a cultural and community catalyst led by Gillian Kayrooz

 

Art Off Site: Connect with community

Fri 17 Jan – Weaving Circle, weave a collaborative piece together as guided by Tarni Eastwood at Chester Hill Library.
