Today (26 February) marks the start of a new era and a secure future for Sydney’s National Art School (NAS), with the signing of a 45-year lease for the old Darlinghurst Gaol site with the NSW Government.
The site, featuring a building designed by convict architect Francis Greenway, has been home to the National Art School since 1922. The School has been fighting for over three years to secure its independence, facing off recent threats including a merger and looming developers.
