The Queens Birthday Honours list was released this week with the arts and cultural sector once again well represented.
Prominent authors Sophie Cunningham, Di Morrissey and Charlotte Wood were given Member (AM) status while choreographer, dancer, director and filmmaker Meryl Tankard was made an Officer (AO) in the General Division.
The Artistic Director of Queensland Ballet, Li Cunxin was also a recipient of an Order of Australia (AO) for his ‘distinguished service to the performing arts, particularly to ballet as a dancer and as an Artistic Director, while Daryl Karp, Director of the Museum of Australian Democracy (MOAD) was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Karp has led MOAD for over six years and has been deputy chair of the Canberra Writers Festival since 2015.
