Rosemary Johns was born in South Wales. She has a First-Class Honours Drama degree (Manchester University) and an MFA (U.C.R.) As a Naarm based playwright her work has been produced for many years in Australia and showcased in Stockholm, Mumbai and Manila. Presented in Athens and Cape Town (as co/writer). Her political thriller Black Box 149 (first produced at La Mama) was part of DFAT’s Australia now 2017 Germany program. It was the first time the German State Theatre Company Staatstheater Nürnberg had ever produced a play by any Australian playwright. As Told by the Boys Who Fed Me Apples was nominated for an AWGIE in community and youth theatre. Rosemary is a Griffin Playwright Award finalist and was shortlisted for the BBC International Radio Playwriting competition in 2018. Long nurtured by La Mama, she is six times published by Currency Press. Rosemary is current Vice-President of Women Playwrights International.
