How do non-Australian cultures perceive and understand Australia, and what role does art play in advocating for Indigenous sovereignty? These critical questions of our times are explored in a co-curated exhibition between Sydney’s Artspace and the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), 경로를 재탐색합니다 UN/LEARNING AUSTRALIA.
The Korean title of the exhibition translates to ‘rediscovering the route’, while in the context of Australia, UN/LEARNING signals a mode of restructuring, specifically to unlearn colonial structures, notes art historian, lecturer and curator Stephen Gilchrist.
