Music tapping privilege for diversity

From the punk ethos to irresistible acts for equality, musicians share reflections at the 2021 Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address.

Composer Peggy Granville-Hicks’ legacy is one of advocacy, challenging the status quo and raising important issues such as equality, diversity and creative innovation through music.

The 2021 Peggy Granville-Hicks Address presented by the Australian Music Centre certainly lived up to this manifesto, as jazz pianist Zela Margossian, multi-talented composer Bree van Reyk, and singer, composer and improviser Sia Ahmad, reflected on how the past year allowed them to approach music with a renewed determination.
