For the last four years, Melbourne-based artist Eugenia Lim has been putting on a Mao-like gold suit and assuming the character of The Ambassador. But this decision is more than roleplaying or public spectacle for Lim.
By taking on this persona she tackles old stereotypes and new roles in uncovering the Australian-Asian narrative, and how the systemic framework around us – such as architecture, workforce and politics – shape and update those values.
