Political and advocacy campaigning in the arts has shifted, largely thanks to a vocal few who have taken it upon themselves to enact change through on the ground campaigning, political lobbying and targeted use of social media.
‘Great campaigns work on several different levels, mobilising activists and reformers and decision-makers and policy wonks and visionaries as well as the general public. Make advocacy a part of your everyday life. Campaigns are big and impactful; advocacy is you being an active citizen, engaged in what matters to you, and emboldening others to do the same,’ said Esther Anatolitis, Executive Director of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
