Fears that small to medium arts companies would not receive funding under Catalyst have proved unfounded.
Minister Fifield’s revamp of the disastrous National Program for Excellence in the Arts acknowledged the need to fund community arts as well as majors. It also returned $8 million to the Australia Council and produced guidelines acknowledging that access is important as well as excellence, enabling small to medium organisations to have a fighting chance at maintaining funding.
