Whatever your creative experience, it pays to learn the art of telling a story that connects deeply with an audience. Professional artists, theatre practitioners and marketers can all benefit from a crash-course in the application of story-telling techniques.

AFTRS Open, the short course division of the Australian Film Television and Radio School, has developed a range of short courses suitable for all creatives. Featuring professionals from the film, television and radio industries as tutors and lecturers, these courses teach a range of practical storytelling skills.

There are also courses available to help the aspiring professional brush-up on fundamental soft skills: presentation, iPhone/iPad content creation, and the nitty-gritty basics of running your own business.

Arts curriculum is evolving beyond the confines of the classroom, and so AFTRS Open also specialise in providing networking opportunities within the industry. From students meeting with guest lecturers to the school’s monthly ‘TV Talks’ and other interactive events, their courses can act as a foot in the door to a vibrant creative community.
