Vipoo Srivalasa, Battle of old and new power 2012, porcelain. Winner of the 29th Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award. Collection: Gold Coast City Gallery. Courtesy of the artist and Edwina Corlette Gallery, Brisbane.
The Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award is looking for something different.
Recognising that ceramics is experiencing an exciting revival in the contemporary art world, the award is offering a major prize of $10,000 and up to $5,000 for the acquisition of several new works that will become an important addition to the Gold Coast City Gallery’s permanent collection.
They want you to think bigger than tableware and traditional vases that, while beautiful, reflect the history of the medium rather than where ceramics is going in the future.
If you are a contemporary artist pushing the boundaries and breathing new life into this traditional medium, you will want to enter.
The Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award will be held September 2016. Entry will be available from June 2016. Visit www.theartscentregc.com.au for more details.
