Cheap tickets for opera first-timers

The Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation has gifted $1.5M to Opera Australia for a new access program in Sydney and Melbourne.

Opera is sometimes said to be an acquired taste – the problem being that it’s a taste many people cannot afford to develop, due to the prohibitive price of opera tickets. Long term patrons of Opera Australia Susan and Isaac Wakil hope to change that paradigm with the gift of $1.5 million over five years to provide significantly discounted tickets to people who have yet to experience an opera.
