Adelaide Festival Centre to receive $90 million upgrade

Work will start later this year on increasing access points, technical upgrades, and better integrating the Centre with its riverbank location.

A long-overdue upgrade of Adelaide Festival Centre, including repairs to water damage, new entry points and refurbished foyers, increased disability access, and upgrades of technical equipment in the venue’s theatres, was announced on Sunday.

Initial works, including demolition of the Amphitheatre and the creation of new entries to the venue on its northern side, will better integrate the Centre with its riverbank location and take advantage of the increase in pedestrian traffic generated by the recent Adelaide Oval Redevelopment and the new Torrens River Footbridge.
