The arts sector spent a good part of 2014 coming to terms with the change of Federal Government and its implications for funding and cultural preferences. Creative Australia died a sudden and painful death but the Australia Council forged ahead with significant plans for changes to the funding regime. Budgets shrank, business partnerships were politicised and culture wars resurfaced. It was a year of rethinking and repositioning, a difficult year for the arts.
