The Review follows the embarrassment of the stolen Shiva which was returned to India in September.
The 900-year-old bronze, Shiva as Nataraja, Lord of the Dance, was stolen from a temple in Tamil Nadu before being sold to the National Gallery in 2008. Subhash Kapoor, the principal dealer for New York gallery Art of the Past, from whom the NGA bought the work, pleaded guilty to six counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the New York Supreme Court in December 2013.
