When we think of art, a connection with nature, science and climate change may not immediately come to mind. But art patron Glenda Lewin and director Richard Watson have found a way to unite these seemingly disparate worlds.
About five years ago, members of the art community in Stawell wanted to create a place to showcase a collection of Australian wildlife art. The idea for The Wildlife Art Museum of Australia (WAMA) was born.
The first of its kind in Australia, the visionary project is a celebration of art, nature and the science of conservation. The major launch of the project was held a few weeks ago at the Sofitel with great success. The WAMA team are now working on gaining funding to ensure that landscaping, design and the proposed collection can come together.
