Balnaves Indigenous Playwright Award announced

A radical re-imagining of a Henry Lawson tale has won its author a $12,500 commission to write a new play, and a cash prize.

Actor and writer Leah Purcell has taken home the 2014 Balnaves Foundation Indigenous Playwright’s Award with her idea for a radical re-imagining of Henry Lawson’s The Drover’s Wife.

She receives a $12,500 commission to write a new play, as well as a cash prize of $7500.
