Commissioned by Arts Victoria and undertaken by Essential Economics in 2013, the report assessed the WPAC on a number of levels including ticket sales, economic activity in the greater region, visitor spending and patronage of the broader cultural sector.
The report found that the centre, which opened in 2009 through successful funding at local state and federal levels, has contributed to a significant increase in economic activity in the region. The report compared the period 06/07 (two years before the construction began) with 2011/12 (two years after construction was completed) in order to best gauge the difference the centre had made.
