The Sydney Festival will for the first time this year hold its opening night free events outside of the city centre – in Parramatta to be precise. The ‘Parra Party’ will feature the Dutch artist Florentijin Hofman’s Rubber Duck, which visitors will remember from last year, and a Mad Max inspired street parade led by soul and funk band in Prince Alfred Park Lee Fields & The Expressions.

CBD residents will have to wait an extra couple of days for their free opening event, which will be Chakra Kahn of ‘I’m Every Woman’ fame in the Domain on 11 January.
