As a film Paul Kelly: Stories of Me, follows a fairly established route. It is a theatrical documentary, attracting audiences into cinemas for what is now called ‘an event experience’.
But the education package which surrounds the film, is a much more interesting integration of art, music, film and education. As writer/director and co-producer Ian Darling said, ‘In the fragile world of documentary you need to be as inventive as you can in terms of finding your market, and build very specific distribution models. And we need a different strategy for our educational release. ‘
