At the end of February this year Injalak Arts went on an expedition to the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. Directors Donna Nadjamerrek (Chairperson), art centre mentor Gabriel Maralngurra and weaver extraordinaire Christine Nabobob and our screenprint manager Reuben Manakgu plus two staff members Liz Martin and Sarah Hosford and I attended a very special four day event – Selling Yarns 3: weaving the nation’s story – a conference, workshop, market day and exhibition program that promoted and showcased textile and fibre craft and design practices of Indigenous artists from across Australia.
