Kicking off next month, New Zealand’s WOMAD festival has become more accessible than ever thanks to a new initiative which will allow deaf festival goers to book sign language interpreters for the festival’s performances, workshops and cooking demonstrations.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing how this new accessibility initiative for hearing impaired people goes,’ Business Manager at Taranaki Arts Festival Trust Chris Herlihy said in a press release. ‘It’s always rewarding to see everyone having a good time at the festival. Seeing so many happy faces at WOMAD makes it all worthwhile.’
