The Thredbo Blues Festival, now in it’s 17th year, runs over three days this weekend from Friday 14 January to Sunday 16. It along with the Jazz Festival in April are highlights in the summer season for the alpine township of Thredbo, high in the Kosciuszko National Park, around 2.5 hrs drive from Canberra.
There will be 21 bands adding up to 80 performers playing 15 venues around the village with something happening from 11am to the early hours of the morning each day. The township, nestled in the valley and surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery provides visitors with the chance to relax and stroll from gigs in intimate bars and restaurants to outside poolside concerts or take the chairlift 600m up to the top of the mountain to enjoy lunch and dinner performances at the Eagle Nest Restaurant.
