Clan Destine Press, Australian’s newest independent publishing house was launched last Saturday night at the Bells Hotel in South Melbourne. Its founder, Lindy Cameron told ArtsHub this week, ‘People keep telling me I’m brave…”in this economic climate”, which kind of makes me freak out a bit. Am I brave or am I crazy?… cause I’m not silly. I know that’s hard to get a publishing company off the ground.’

Clan Destine Press will be a genre specialist publisher, whether it’s crime, horror, sci fi or spec-fic but it will also be a one-stop shop for writers who want to cross genres. Often authors may write in several genres but have to have one publisher for say, young adult, and another for their sci-fi. Clan Destine wants to be a publisher that embraces authors who want to experiment and not be boxed in by marketing definitions. ‘Why not do a sci-fi paranormal romance, I don’t care, if it’s a good novel and it’s a good story?’ Cameron says. ‘The only things I’m concerned about are good story and good writing.’
