Wendy Hughes, best known for her roles in such films as Newsfront, Careful, He Might Hear You and My Brilliant Career, as well as a long and distinguished stage and television career, died on Saturday aged 61.
Her death was announced on Saturday afternoon by fellow actor Bryan Brown, who asked the audience of Sydney Theatre Company’s Travelling North to honour Hughes with a standing ovation.
