Shy and law-abiding gentleman farmer Robin Oakapple is working up the courage to ask the beautiful Rose Maybud to marry him. But he has a dark secret; he is the heir to a terrible curse befalling all Baronets of Ruddigore and has been living in disguise to escape his fate. When the truth is discovered, Robin is bound to obey the family curse that dictates he must commit a dastardly crime every day – or face a torturous death. Under these difficult circumstances, can he win back Rose and lead the virtuous life he craves?
Jump into a sepia-tinted gothic horror story where good and evil go hilariously hand in hand in a seaside village full of bridesmaids and home to a haunted house whose ancestral gallery comes alive at the Ghosts’ High Noon.
Lindy Hume’s take on Gilbert & Sullivan, designed by Richard Roberts, will be an irreverent romp celebrating Victoriana in all its eccentricity. Ruddigore features many wonderful musical gems such as the ‘Matter’ trio and Rose’s ‘Etiquette’ song. Popular stars of Candide, Bryan Probets and Christine Johnston will be joined by a stellar cast including Kanen Breen, Jason Barry-Smith, Roxane Hislop and Natalie Christie Peluso as Rose Maybud.
Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, or the Witch’s Curse! will delight, excite and entertain.
