Marilyn Rowe House, the Australian Ballet School’s new student residence, was officially opened in Melbourne on Saturday by The Australian Ballet’s patron, His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove.
The property, opposite Royal Park, was secured by the School at auction on 24 May, 2014 and partially funded through a million grant, controversial because it was awarded at the same time the Federal Government was cutting tens of millions from other arts and cultural programs, including the Australia Council and Screen Australia.
