Australia’s international arts activity is under threat from the Budget changes that have stripped the Australia Council for the Arts of $105 million over the next four years.

A new report from the Council shows international arts activity has significant benefits for both the artists and Australia’s international reputation but warns that Australia’s international reach will not continue to flourish without investment grounded in expert knowledge, investment that is being lost with the Budget cuts to the Australia Council.

‘For it to be most effective, international arts investment must be grounded in knowledge of the arts sector’s international activities, ambitions, and support needs,’ said Australia Council Executive Director Arts Strategy Dr Wendy Were.
